Judy A. Scott, MSN, RN
Salt Lake Community College is very pleased to welcome Judy A. Scott join the School of Health Sciences as the Division Chair of the Nursing program. Here is a little more about Judy, in her own words:
“I was born at in Las Vegas, NV; 4th of 6 children, but the only and only girl. My family owned a jewelry store in Las Vegas, which I enjoyed working in for many years. Then, in my 3rd decade of life, I decided to make my own mark in this world and went back to college. Nursing is my second career of over 20 years. After graduating from the University of Nevada at Las Vegas, I started in the Pediatric Oncology/Hematology/IMC unit at Sunrise Hospital. I have also worked in Pediatric Emergency, Pediatric Home Health, Pediatric phone triage and on the General Pediatric floor.
After obtaining my Master of Science, Nursing degree, I started teaching at the College of Southern Nevada. In this capacity and in conjunction with other faculty members, I designed the Pediatric, Pharmacology and Professional Topics courses. I also was asked to function as the Clinical Coordinator for CSN, securing placements for over 500 RN and LPN students each semester. As a member of the faculty senate, I chaired the budget committee and served on numerous other committees. In December of 2010, I moved to Salt Lake City to accept the position as Division Chair of Nursing at Salt Lake Community College and was given the honor of Emeritus status with CSN.
I have been married for almost 37 years to my best friend. Together, we have a wonderful family consisting of 4 beautiful children and 8 wonderful grandchildren. I love teaching and watching the ‘light bulbs of understanding’ illuminate the mind.”
